Girl Guides Thinking Day 2010

Each year on 22 February Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world celebrate World Thinking Day. The World Thinking Day theme for 2010 is for girls worldwide to say "together we can end extreme poverty and hunger" and the aim is to raise awareness among everyone about the situation and improve the lives of the poorest people in the world.
The Girl Guides Annual Thinking day was full on in various locations all over North Toronto. At one location the theme was Europe. With 10 units consisting of 136 children and 30 leaders, to say it was busy is an understatement. There were Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers everywhere you looked. They got to participate in dancing, crafts, games, camp fire (without the actual fire) and were also making blintzes. In the gym, they had a homemade well where each child got to donate $5.00.
At another location, the theme as about various countries: Canada, Switzerland, India and Mexico. A much smaller group consisting of Sparks and Brownies, they read fairytales, had a snack, discussed the various countries and got flags to play with. Think about it. http://www.worldthinkingday.org
