Katja & John immediately after Katjas' compelling speech

CNIB Launch National Advocacy Campaign

The turn out for the "Launch National Advocacy Campaign" was incredible. John M. Rafferty, CNIB President and CEO, addressed the human rights issue affecting the right to read of over 800,000 blind and partially sighted Canadians. Maya Jonas gave such a compelling speech as did Katja Newman, a fifteen year old student, who praised the CNIB for their accessibility to alternative format materials. More so the fact that she now has the ability to find and read her favorite books that the library houses.
The tour of the library which include recording studios, e-publishing, Braille and audio duplicating machines was a highlight and with a circulation of over two million books, magazines, newspapers and online access it is a great resource for our community.
