Media Advocacy Agenda
Highly educated immigrants bring their education, talents, skills and dreams to Canada. However, because of the gaps in culture and language, they find they are not able to fully express themselves culturally. Additionally, they are not able to utilize their talents, education and experience fully due to the lack of social support for their needs.
In 2008 the ECCCP (English & Culture for Chinese Professionals) began providing a free venue (with a group of volunteer coordinators) for weekly meetings for Chinese professional immigrants. This enabled them with the necessary bridging to close the gap and integrate more closely with Western Canadian Cultures. They are currently working on expanding the business to all professional immigrants, not only within Chinese community.
