2008 July > $3 Million Raised for Heart & Stroke

The Becel Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart is an annual one-day event that was another resounding success! With $3 million dollars being raised and over 12,000 people showing they were all heart by cycling or inline skating along the Gardiner Expressway and the DVP in Toronto. A never notable donation was that made by Amanda Belzowski. Amanda, who is now 10, has been selling lemonade each spring to raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Amanda the unstoppable young North Toronto dynamo was proud to announce that her overall 10-year goal of reaching $100,000 was not only meet but surpassed by $1,087. Amanda presented the raised money in the form of an over-sized cheque to Rocco Rossi of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario for the amount of $101,087 to help fund life-saving heart and stroke research.
