2008 July > Imagine a Cure for Leukemia

For the third year in a row Nara Abrams and Jennifer Shulman held the annual ‘Imagine a Cure for Leukemia’ fundraiser on Thursday May 29th at the Capitol Event Theatre. The event, dedicated to Nara’s mother, Miriam Segal, who was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphomatic Leukemia in the year 2000 and later Prolymphocytic Leukemia in 2005 inspired the act of imagining a cure through her “courage and optimism she displayed in fighting this disease”. The event sponsored by ‘Platinum corporate sponsor’ Bristol Myers Squibb Canada, along with delicious mouth watering catering by Flow Restaurant, New York Fries, Starbucks, Dairy Queen, Bite catering, and even live entertainment by Toronto’s very own Indi artist and songstress Daphne Darling, was not only able to raise money for a cure through the bidding and auctioning of gorgeous designer sunglasses and gift certificates-but, it also helped to raise awareness of the disease itself. To learn more about ‘Imagine a Cure for Leukemia’ and how you can help to not only imagine but rather find and make a cure very possible for Leukemia visit www.imagineacureforleukemia.com.
